Sunken Island is a folklore-inspired time-loop RPG that can be played solo or with a group. Based on the tale of Wasserburg, a rich bronze age city that fell suddenly, you relive its last day again and again, trying to prevent its tragic fate.
A downloadable Groundhog Day Game
This game is based on a tale from Bad Buchau, a small town in the South-West of Germany at lake Federsee. It is said it retells the fall of the rich bronze age island city Wasserburg.
The player lives through the day before the attack and when they notice they are back Where it all begins, their goal is to change the fate of the island so the attack will never happen.
In Sunken Island, you will safe an island from the dark fate of distraction.
Just like Phil relives Groundhog Day over, and over, and over again, you will be reliving the day before the fateful attack on the island. You will shape the fate of the island and create a unique world where you decide the obstacles and how to overcome them!
The Fate of the Island is in Your Hands!
The game is formatted in A5 and has 10 pages. The Booklet Version has 12 pages so it can easily be printed on A4 paper and turned into a little booklet. We included a back cover and an Extra Booklet Signature Page to collect all the signatures of your friends you played with! The retelling of the folktale and all artwork are original work by Ralf Mayenberger.

I am totally stealing this game. All about it.
This is my first exposure to the Element Dice System. The core resolution is simple - every action leads to some potential good and some potential bad. But (at least in this version) it's comprehending these outcomes that tells the story. In a way, each player action is a double prompt - "what made you roll?" + "what happens because you rolled these associations?" Because of this, Sunken Island does not need to be long.
The story and its presentation make great use of what I said above. The fact that the final, actually-played story develops so much from the prompts is delightful for me. Even though it appears the experience is already set down, it actually develops and ferments in your brain. I'm totally stealing this.

Thanks for a chance to look into the Element Dice System. I'll be sure to come back and rate it once I've had a little time to play with it!
Awesome! Sunken Island was created as a starter game for the Element Dice System, because it gives some guidance, but leaves enough for your own interpretation.
