The title says it all! Rise of the Runner is life!

But since you are reading this, let's look into my process working on Runner!

For some reason this is now the third RISE title directly inspired by a movie, or to be more precise, by a sequel movie. Rise of the Apes kicked everything off, Rise of the Judges was a huge undertaking and Rise of the Runner is another fever dream come reality. Not sure what it is, but I like exploring the idea of these movies in a way that takes the original, distils them down to their core and run with the idea:

• Rise of the Apes: Apes together Strong
• Rise of the Judges: Police Brutality
• Rise of the Runner: What does it mean to be human?

All these ideas explore facettes of our lifes, of society and of the choices we made. Each choice creates consequences that we can empathize with - because they hit close to home. Closer than you think! These choices are represented in counters in all of these games:

• Rise of the Apes has the Strength Tracker that Tracks the strength of the group of Apes and the threat level this represents for humans
• Rise of the Judges tracks Ammo and with this the ability to overpower everything in the name of the law, which is you
• Rise of the Runner tracks the emotional response of the Runner and declares them rogue if they establish real feeling

All these mechanics are visualizations of the exploration in each game - because they are Made to Rise!
